PC Transistor Tester by Robert Penfold

Everyday Practical Electronics, August 1998 issue

Put your PC to practical work! This practical design connects
to the parallel port of a PC to provide a digital readout
of d.c. current gain on the monitor. If the printer port is
bidirectional, it will also display whether npn or pnp
types are under test. (Not suitable for FETs.)

It automatically adjusts for the minimum base current
needed for a collector current of 10mA. Straightforward,
stripboard-built design uses the TLC548 8-bit A/D converter chip.

File trantest.bas is a QBasic/ GW-BASIC program needed to run the
tester on a PC.
